Guilty

Lessons from Psalms: Chapter 2

In today's world, the news is constantly filled with those who would ban the Bible and its teachings, and rid the world of Christianity and Judaism. Following the Word of God is hard for those who love sin and walk in its path. Those people would rather not have a moral compass so that guilt would not exist.

Imagine a world that can rationalize away murder, rape, theft and all sorts of bad behavior. There is always an excuse. It is never anyone's own fault. It can be because of a bad childhood, an abusive situation, a dire-looking future, or just because it felt good at the time or temporary insanity.

What the Bible does not do is allow anyone to make excuses. It calls each of us to be held responsible for his or her own sin. It makes us all accountable for our own actions and for the actions of the nations in which we live.

If there is one thing that is missing from the newest generations, it is personal accountability and self-control. Without it, we have a godless society.

Instead of following God, our world now faces headlines about bakers being sued for not wanting to make a wedding cake for homosexuals. Teachers are fired for mentioning their faith in the classroom. Babies are aborted by the millions as genocide is in progress all over the earth. Our country is being overrun by those who would come in and have no respect for our laws or our way of life. Our own citizens have been cast aside and face unemployment to make room for people who worship different gods, have different beliefs and care nothing for our history or our constitution. Children are orphaned or abused because the moral compass has been broken. Human trafficking has become a big problems, and the demon of drug addiction has taken hold in households across the nation, terrorizing everyone that addicts come in contact with.

If this trend keeps up and is allowed to gather momentum, our nation as we see it today will cease to exist.

But, God has given us a way out through His Word which is written in the Bible:

2 Chronicles 7:14
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Psalms
Chapter 2
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
